New editions from the world famous slot car racing game is Scalextric Digital and 2008 see the acclaimed Scalextric system enhanced with added game play and functionality to suit all levels. A new 6 car digital powerbase is launched meaning you can now race up to 6 cars on a two lane circuit.
You can even have more than one car in the same lane and by using the lane change track pieces plus pressing the button on the hand controller you can overtake. What’s more is you can use your old Scalextric track and simply add to the Scalextric Digital circuit.

With the success of Lewis Hamilton and the Vodafone McLaren team in the Brazilian final seeing Lewis Hamilton become the Formula One World Champion Scalextric are adding the Vodafone McLaren F1 range to their already impressive collection. A lot is happening in the world of racing in more ways than one; Lewis Hamilton’s success in becoming World Champion and the ever popular James Bond saving the day with a high speed car chase in his Aston Martin DBS.
Scalextric is a major international brand of slot car racing that first appeared in the late 1950s and is currently owned by Hornby. Production of Scalextric began in 1957 out of Hampshire England then in 1990’s production was transferred to China. Scalextric have come along way since they first introduced a range of metal bodied model racing cars and by the 1960’s these were replaced by a plastic range of cars.
As the world turned evermore to digital technology, one thing was for sure; Scalextric was not going to be left behind and in 2004 introduced its first fully digital racing set (multi-car racing with lane changing functionality). Today sees Scalextric introducing new sets and cars to their range all the time including popular themes like the Scalextric Digital James Bond 007.
